Formally protected areas: The Swedish NFI did not inventory within formally protected areas before 2003. For a harmonized comparison for all the time points included here, formally protected areas based on the most current boundaries must therefore be excluded for the entire time series. However, a comparison for all land can be made for the time before the main allocations of formally protected areas began, i.e. 1926-1965, and from 2005 onwards (equivalent to 2003-07).
Landuse class: The landuse classification is generally the same as the definitions applied today. For definitions please contact riksskogstaxeringen@slu.se

The Swedish NFI did not inventory within formally protected areas before 2003. For a harmonized comparison for all the time points included here, formally protected areas based on the most current boundaries must therefore be excluded for the entire time series. However, a comparison for all land can be made for the time before the main allocations of formally protected areas began, i.e. 1926-1965, and from 2005 onwards (equivalent to 2003-07).

Landuse class

The landuse classification is generally the same as the definitions applied today. For definitions please contact riksskogstaxeringen@slu.se
